The Mongolia and Inner Asia Studies Unit (MIASU) seeks to appoint a part-time Research Associate for a fixed-term period of 12 months.
Responsibilities of the successful candidate include strategic support for the minority subject area of Mongolian Studies through the design of new targeted research themes and applications for substantial grant funding and provide teaching in Mongolian language and culture.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate specialist knowledge of contemporary Mongolia and have the necessary expertise to develop new research grant applications on a number of topics including minority religion of Inner Asia such as shamanism.
The successful candidate must have either completed or being close to completing their PhD in anthropology, specializing in contemporary Mongolia, before starting their appointment. If they have not yet been awarded their PhD, they will initially be appointed as a Research Assistant (Salary £25,298- £29,301 Pro rata), and be promoted to Research Associate (Salary £31,076 - £38,143 Pro rata) on award of the PhD.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance. This is a 70% FTE post. The appointment will run from 2nd October 2017 for 12 months, and is subject to satisfactory completion of a probationary period of six months.
