Research Assistant/Associate - Numerical (Fixed Term)

Cambridge CARES is a research centre sponsored by the NRF CREATE program, "CAM.CREATE" in Singapore. The research programme Cambridge Centre for Carbon Reduction in Chemical Technology (C4T) is a joint Cambridge, NTU, and NUS research activity within Cambridge CARES.

A post-doctoral research associate position is available in the Cambridge CARES ¿ C4T programme, at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology, at the University of Cambridge under the supervision of Prof. Markus Kraft. The group's modelling activities in areas such as chemical kinetics and nanoparticle synthesis involve the numerical solution of a variety of problems formulated as sets of ordinary and partial differential equations, using a number of approaches. Common to those are issues with convergence, numerical stability, and performance (work vs. precision). The successful candidate is expected to contribute substantially to our efforts to ensure robust, reliable, and computationally efficient software.

Applicants must have:

1.) A PhD degree in a relevant discipline such as mathematics, (theoretical) physics/chemistry, scientific computing, or engineering with substantial numerical focus (essential).

2.) A keen interest in modelling, as well as strong numerical and programming skills (essential).

3.) An outstanding publication record in at least one of the research areas concerned (essential).

4.) Excellent oral and written communication skills (essential).

5.) The ability to work as part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team of researchers.
