Postdoctoral Research Associate in Functional Genomics (Fixed Term)


Applicants are invited to apply for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Functional Genomics position within the Department of Medical Genetics (based at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Cambridge and European Bioinformatics Institute, Hinxton, Cambridge), to undertake functional analysis of rare genetic variants to understand and define the role of individual genetic variation in determining pathogenicity.

The researcher will focus on neurological conditions including intellectual disability, HSP, retinal dystrophy and pain using bioinformatics analysis and assessment of tools for protein predictions. The main aim of this project is to improve classification of genetic variants and to improve clinical interpretation of variant of unknown significance.

This project will offer the opportunity to work at the University of Cambridge, EBI and the NHS Genomics Medicine Centre in Cambridge.

Applicants should hold a PhD (or near completion) in protein functional biology or functional genomics or related discipline. Applicants should have a high level of protein modelling skills, excellent communication skills, attention-to-detail and good bioinformatics skills.

The position is full-time, currently funded for 3 years, and available immediately.
