Research Associate (Fixed Term)

Applications are invited for a full-time Research Associate who will be based in the Cancer Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory (CMDL).

Following on the successful major centre funding award from Cancer Research UK the new integrative cancer medicine theme will bring together knowledge, expertise and emerging technologies to establish a personalised cancer medicine strategy that diagnoses cancer early and individually stratifies, treats and monitors all patients (

The CMDL is a key strategic resource for the integrative cancer medicine theme aimed to translate cutting edge genomics methods for advanced diagnosis and clinical management of cancer at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Centre funded by NIHR-BRC and CRUKCC Integrative cancer medicine theme ( The Biomedical Research Centre (NIHR-BRC) at the Addenbrookes campus in Cambridge is a leading site for experimental medicine research (

Candidates are expected to have experience in cancer genomics, next generation sequencing and ideally clinical diagnostics. Experienced applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent) or equivalent research experience in molecular genetics/genomics. Individuals registered with the HCPC as Clinical Scientist (Genetics) with equivalent research and development experience are encouraged to apply.

Working in close collaboration with research groups at the CRUK CI and other institutions across the biomedical campus to bring new molecular profiling assays into the clinic, the successful applicant will play a crucial part in consolidating the recently created CMDL and help coordinating processes for the group under the supervision of the Laboratory Director. This will require delivering a range of complex scientific work, demanding skilled performance and taking responsibility for some areas of the service, as well as contributing to service development.
