Maternity cover: This post is fixed-term for 6 months or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier.
A suitably qualified person is required to cover the maternity leave of a Teaching Fellow. The duties include:
timetabling of lectures, practicals and deadlines;
arranging and disseminating introductory material for all 4 undergraduate years; assigning practical groups ;
preparing practical demonstrator and Head of Class rotas and checking claims for payment; checking and acting upon feedback from practical sessions; checking laboratory set up and layout before the practicals, and coordinating associated demonstrator briefing sessions;
organising Part II supervisions, industrial visits, induction events;
assigning Part III projects; organising presentation sessions, examiners, and marking;
preparing lecture handouts, data books and practical books; tracking printing schedules and delivery;
coordination of examinations: assessment / local guidance / preparation of examination papers;
updating local Teaching database and Departmental Moodle website for undergraduate teaching;
attending Teaching Committee meetings.
You must have a PhD in Materials Science or Physics, and being familiar with the Cambridge teaching system would be an advantage
