Fixed-term: 12 months.
We are looking to appoint a Finance Manager to join the Academic and Financial Planning & Analysis section of the Finance Division. The Academic and Financial Planning & Analysis team has responsibility for preparing budgetary information and analysis and providing financial advice, management information and support to departments across the University (total turnover exceeds £1.2bn).
The successful applicant will provide financial analysis, support and advice to the departments and faculties within the School of Technology, one of 6 Schools into which the University's academic departments are grouped. The main responsibilities include preparation and presentation of financial plans and budgets, reporting and monitoring performance against budgets, developing information to support financial decisions, assisting and supporting departments with financial analysis, advising on financial processes and procedures and acting as a conduit between departments and the central Finance Division.
The role reports to the Assistant Director, Academic and Financial Planning & Analysis but is 'embedded' within the School and thus works closely with the Head of School and School Secretary. There is line management for one member of staff, the Finance Advisor of the School.
The successful applicant will have excellent communication and analytical skills and be able to present and explain financial information to senior non-finance professionals. You will be a qualified accountant and have experience of planning and budgetary control within a large organisation. A strong team player, you will have the maturity and integrity to influence and impact at the highest levels.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check, a health assessment and a security check.
