The Modern and Medieval Languages (MML) Library is looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and motivated library/information professional to fill the post of Research Support Librarian. You will have a central role in supporting and engaging with the needs of graduate researchers in the MML Faculty; as part of this role you will deliver appropriate training to enhance digital literacy learning. In addition, you will work closely with senior library staff in the School of Arts and Humanities supporting school-wide graduate training programmes.
Specific subject expertise is required for Film Studies; this is an exciting and unique opportunity to develop a distinct Film Library with relevant resources and services for this growing interdisciplinary subject. Academic members of the MML Faculty have strong research interests in this subject area and the MML Library provides an ideal base for the role-holder; however, it is anticipated that you will also work alongside library staff across the subject spectrum and develop a strong online presence for Film. In addition, you will be solely responsible for the German/Dutch collections in the MML Library.
To be considered for this role, you should demonstrate an adaptable and flexible approach to delivering library services. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential; collaboration within a small local team as well as within the broader information landscape at the University will be required. You should be able to work independently and with autonomy on some activities. You should have the ability to demonstrate analytical and evaluative skills, and have a creative and practical approach to problem-solving. Excellent IT skills and an enquiring mind with respect to technical developments will be an advantage.
