Applications are invited for a full-time EEG Research Associate/Research Assistant to work on a longitudinal project investigating auditory and motor processing abilities and language development in infants using EEG and motion capture. The successful candidate will be based in the Department of Psychology (Centre for Neuroscience in Education) and will be joining a team headed by Professor Usha Goswami (see: http://www.cnebabylab.psychol.cam.ac.uk/). The position is available from 1 September 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Applicants should have (or be close to completing) a PhD in psychology, neuroscience, linguistics or a related discipline, and have experience of designing, administering and analysing EEG experiments involving oscillatory paradigms and time-frequency analyses. They require excellent mathematical and technical skills (e.g. Matlab).
Applicants will require the capacity to work independently within the current team to ensure the smooth running of the EEG laboratory and smooth running of the testing of the infant cohort (120 infants, 8 repeated monthly visits from age 2 months). Excellent organisational and communication skills are required, and prior experience with infants would be an advantage.
The salary if appointed as a Research Associate will be £30,175 - £38,183 per annum. The salary if appointed as a Research Assistant will be £25,298 - £29,301 with promotion to Research Associate on attainment of PhD.
