Applications are invited for a Ward Assistant position at the busy Queen's Veterinary School Hospital from 1st June 2017 or as soon as possible after that date.
The role purpose is to assist veterinary nursing staff in basic duties so that the Small Animal Wing inpatients department runs smoothly with high levels of cleanliness and patient care.
The role holder will assist Veterinary Nursing Staff in basic animal care of inpatients and their environment. This is achieved by carrying out cleaning of corridors, animal housing and treatment rooms, kitchen cleanliness, laundry duties, assisted feeding, exercising inpatients and basic administration to predetermined standards set by the Senior Nurse.

No formal qualifications are required, although Animal Care or Nursing Assistant certification would be an advantage, however previous experience of working in a Small Animal Hospital is not essential as full training will be given. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have the ability to clean to an excellent standard and that they are able to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
You should be familiar and comfortable with levels of animal contact. The ability to communicate well with all levels of staff and to work as part of a team is essential.
