In exceptional circumstances, it may be possible to offer a supplement to the salary range stated for this role up to £90,000. Any such supplement would be awarded on the basis of a demonstrable history of exceptional achievement and is entirely at the discretion of the University.
The University of Cambridge seeks an outstanding individual for the position of Head of Major Gifts - University Wide. Joining at a critical and exciting time, following the successful public launch of our £2 billion campaign (www.cam.ac.uk/YoursCambridge), this is a career defining opportunity to play a key role in the Development and Alumni Relations senior management team.
Building on the success of the University's current fundraising programmes, you will draw on your experience to develop and implement a strategy for the University-Wide fundraising programme to meet the needs of the Campaign as they develop. The programme currently includes a team of 11 fundraising professionals focused in trusts and foundations; the University Library; the regional and international programmes; sports, clubs and societies and student support. The team works collaboratively with the School Based fundraising programme, the Cambridge University Health Partners programme as well as the Principal Gifts programme. Demonstrating exceptional leadership you will drive the vision for a collaborative and interdisciplinary fundraising programme across the University Wide portfolio ensuring that all potential gift opportunities are realised.
Responsible for identifying and securing donations in excess of £1 million, you and your team will work in partnership with world class academics and leaders across the University to deliver transformative philanthropic gifts, ensuring that the University of Cambridge continues to deliver pioneering research and educate outstanding graduates.
You will have a proven track record of securing gifts of over £1 million in a higher education environment, and in implementing systems to ensure that your team delivers against defined key performance indicators. You will lead by example, setting the tone and creating an atmosphere in which your fundraisers will succeed. You will be committed to fostering professional growth and personal development, encouraging your team to reach their full potential, both individually and collectively.
Experienced in managing internal and external stakeholders at the highest level, you will have the gravitas and negotiation skills to command respect amongst senior members of the University and to develop and deepen relationships with high net worth individuals.
This role is based in Central Cambridge.
