Student Experience and Communications Manager


Applications are invited for the post of Student Experience and Communications Manager within the Education Division of the Office of the School of Clinical Medicine.

This role is an exciting opportunity to manage the communications strategy and the direction and implementation of communication activities for the clinical medical course. The role is responsible for strategy for ensuring an excellent student experience (outside the direct educational and pastoral remit of clinical and academic colleagues). The role is a strategic one, with responsibility for designing systems, problem solving, and overseeing implementation of methods of enhancing communication and feedback systems (both to and from students), and taking action, both proactively and responsively, to enhance the clinical student experience. The role encompasses communications in a variety of formats including by email, via website, intranet, and the clinical student Virtual Learning Environment (MedEd). The role is outward-facing and also has a responsibility for liaising with the regional Trusts which take students on placement, in order to be able to work with other colleagues towards consistency of excellent student experience irrespective of where a student is placed.

The successful candidate will have a degree (or equivalent) and will have experience managing websites and editing content; working with students in a further or higher education context; working independently and flexibly, meeting challenging deadlines; working with a broad range of communications disciplines; and communicating complex information to a diverse audience. They will have planning, organisational and time management skills; interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. They will have IT skills and the ability to use web content management systems, as well as the potential to pick up new IT systems rapidly. They will be able to assimilate information quickly, and present ideas and information with clarity and confidence; and diplomacy, discretion and tact.
