A position exists, for a Research Assistant/Research Associate in AR/VR Head Mounted Displays (HMDs) for 12 months.
The post holder will be located in West Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.
The role including the key responsibilities and duties can be summarised as: to advance the knowledge of AR/VR HMDs for novel application, in particular in the context of optical design and performance optimisation; to research and design tests and experiments to address research objective and find solutions; to compile and analyse quantitative and qualitative data, prepare reports and present results to summarise main findings and conclusions; to write journal articles to reveal research findings if possible; manage own research and administrative activities, with guidance if required; work in a team and provide support to other work when required; and may assist in the development of student research skills.
The skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the role are: having obtained or being close to obtaining a PhD in a relevant specialist subject of optics, displays and/or computer visions, and demonstrating the ability to perform key responsibilities and duties as described above in the context of a strong publication record. Research experience in compact displays (such as head-mounted displays (HMDs)) and/or optical waveguides is essential, and in eye-tracking and head-tracking techniques and/or evaluation of image qualities is desirable.
Salary Ranges: Research Assistant: £25,298 - £29,301 / Research Associate: £29,301 - £38,183
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance.
