Applications are invited for a Research Assistant position to join a team led by Dr. Robert Semple where you will be responsible for supporting a study examining the potential utility of antibodies as a therapeutic intervention for human insulin resistance syndromes caused by genetic defects in insulin receptors. The post-holder's work may include, but will not necessarily be limited to, mammalian cell culture, Western blotting, assessment of post-translational modifications and signalling cascades downstream of the insulin receptor, and the application of standard molecular biology techniques (cloning, DNA/RNA extraction, genotyping).

Experience in mammalian cell culture is absolutely essential, as is excellent organisational, record keeping skills and technical knowledge. Handling and use of antibodies, Western blotting, DNA extraction and genotyping is a requirement. More general experience with wider protein chemistry techniques, immunohistochemistry, and microscopy will be an advantage. You will also be enthusiastic, have good communication and team-working skills, and the ability to work independently when required.
Proposed start date: as soon as possible
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 24 months in the first instance.
