The Sainsbury Laboratory is an interdisciplinary research institute focusing on plant developmental biology.
Applications are invited for the position of Personal Assistant to the Director, Professor Dame Ottoline Leyser, to provide an efficient administrative and secretarial service and ensure the smooth running and day to day operation of the Director's office. The post has a wide range of responsibilities, including managing complex diary arrangements and acting as the interface between the Director of the Institute, the School, the University, the scientific community, and national and international institutions.
Candidates must be educated to at least A-level standard (or equivalent experience) ideally with a degree and demonstrate previous relevant experience supporting individuals at a senior level. Effective and professional communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, alongside the ability to build good working relationships with a range of people at various levels.
The successful candidate will have excellent organisation, time management and IT skills, with previous experience in diary management. Whilst demonstrating a service orientated approach, the post holder will use their own judgement to meet deadlines, work under pressure and prioritise a diverse and changing workload. A flexible attitude to work is required, together with a high level of attention to detail. Familiarity with the University administrative and online systems would be advantageous.

Fixed term: The funds for this post are available until 31 December 2021 in the first instance.
