Research Associate (Fixed Term)


Position available for postdoctoral research associate with a strong background in computational and cognitive neuroscience in the Voon lab.

The Voon lab studies mechanisms underlying impulsivity and compulsivity with a special interest in addictions using a multimodal approach. Must be proficient in programming. Some background in imaging analyses or signal processing would be ideal. Background can include engineering, physics or neuroscience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The candidate will have their own projects and be involved in supporting other students in the lab on imaging analyses. The candidate will have the opportunity to work on developing new studies and existing databases using novel analyses.

The University of Cambridge offers access to the international excellence of Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre with 3T (Siemens Prisma and Skyra) and 7T (Siemens Terra) MRI and PET-MR (GE) with additional departmental facilities for TMS and M/EEG and access to the University's high performance hub for informatics (HPHI) and advanced analytics. The candidate will have the opportunity to interact with an active neuroscience community in basic and clinical sciences.

Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent in neuroscience, engineering, or physics or be very close to completion/award of same prior to their appointment to the post. The candidate must be self-motivated, organized and flexible.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, pre-employment checks will be required. For this post these are; evidence of right to work in the UK, a Disclosure and Barring Service check (enhanced with adults' barred list) and a health assessment. This appointment also requires a Research Passport application.

The post will be appointed at the appropriate point on the University of Cambridge's research assistant salary scale, depending on the seniority of the successful candidate.
