The Institute of Criminology seeks to appoint a part-time PA to the Director of the Prisons Research Centre, based in the Institute of Criminology at the University of Cambridge.
The post will be 50% FTE and is available from 2nd May, 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter. Due to the limited funding for this post, the post will be available until 30th April, 2018.
The successful candidate will provide PA and secretarial support to the Director of the Prisons Research Centre, working pro-actively to ensure that communications to the Director's office are dealt with efficiently and effectively. The role holder will be the main point of contact for the Centre and will provide information in the Director's absence.
The successful candidate will also provide support to the Director's research which includes proof reading and copy editing work, as well as compiling reference lists and liaising with publishers. S/he will also oversee day-to-day financial matters for the Centre.
Candidates should be qualified to at least A level or have relevant equivalent experience. The successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate proficiency in Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel.
Good organisational skills to be able to prioritise between conflicting demands is essential. Excellent written skills are required to draft letters, memos, and copy edit research documents to a high standard. The ability to research, collate, edit and organise information to a professional standard, appropriate to publications produced on behalf of the Centre.
Prior experience of working in similar role is essential. Experience of working within University administration is desirable.
