In 2013, Europe's top cancer charity, Cancer Research UK, combined with the University of Cambridge to fund the world class Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, situated on the Addenbrooke's Biomedical Campus in Cambridge.

As part of the University Of Cambridge School Of Clinical Medicine, the Institute's research ranges from basic cancer biology through translational cancer research to clinical application. The Institute currently houses over 400 researchers, 70 administrative and support staff, and 22 research groups. It provides a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment in cancer research, with state of the art facilities and core scientific resources, and good links with the scientific community of Cambridge.

The IT & Scientific Computing team aims to provide world-class scientific computing facilities to the Institute's researchers. This includes personal computing equipment, communication devices, high performance networking, database and information systems, high performance computing equipment and high volume data storage systems in a controlled operational environment.

We are now looking for an individual to work in a customer-facing role with specific skills in Apple and Microsoft Windows client and server environments. Spending half your time on our helpdesk, you will also be encouraged to widen your skills to cover the full range of technologies in use at the Institute. Experience of working in a customer focused environment and supporting systems to support scientific research is highly desirable. Audio visual support is also an element of the role, which will involve occasional evening and weekend events in our lecture theatre.

You will be conscientious and have excellent customer service skills. You will be highly organised and have a flexible and cooperative approach.
