The Centre of Development Studies, part of the Department of Politics and International Studies, requires a proactive and strong administrator to support its work. The Centre has recently come under new leadership and is entering an exciting phase in its evolution. There are currently five academic staff in the Centre: the Director and four others, some of whom are based in other departments or faculties in the University.
In addition to the day-to-day running of the Centre, this role administers the MPhil in Development Studies (admissions is managed centrally elsewhere in the Department). The role-holder is Secretary to the Centre's Management Committee, and looks after other meetings as required. The post line-manages the part-time PhD Administrator in the Centre.
Previous experience of administering an academic programme in a busy office is essential along with the ability to work confidentially and with a wide range of individuals. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to hit the ground running are much desired in this role.
