Administrative Assistant (Part Time)


We have a vacancy for someone to provide an administrative/secretarial service in the Department of Earth Sciences. The person appointed will play a valuable part in a wide range of general administrative duties across the department, including attendance at some departmental meetings, taking minutes, and reception cover. The post holder will also provide day to day administrative support for the Teaching Support Manager who is responsible for the organisation and coordination of the department's undergraduate teaching and exams.

Applicants should have previous experience of administrative support, a tactful and proactive attitude with a common sense approach, and will be able to demonstrate the ability to work with others as part of a team. The successful applicant will need to be well organised, able to work to deadlines, possess a flexible attitude to work, and demonstrate excellent attention to detail.

This role will involve interaction with administrative staff, undergraduates and academic staff, and as such the person appointed will be required to communicate confidently with people at all levels.

This is a part time post for 0.5FTE, ideally the working hours of the person appointed will be spread over 5 days.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
