The Clinical School wishes to appoint a Cambridge Graduate Course Tutor. This is one of six CGC tutor posts, which make a major contribution to the provision of academic and pastoral student support.
The Cambridge Graduate Course in Medicine is a four-year course for graduates of any discipline leading to an MB BChir degree. The twenty students admitted each year have their Cambridge base in one of three graduate Colleges (Lucy Cavendish, Hughes Hall and Wolfson), and their clinical base in West Suffolk Hospital and one of six local general practices.
Applicants will be experienced NHS clinicians (consultant or other non-training grade) based at the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds, or established general practitioners from those general practices involved in teaching Cambridge Graduate Course students. The post is for 2 Programmed Activities (2PAs) per week, and applicants must be able to demonstrate how the time commitment will be established within their job plans (or equivalent). The post is for five years (renewable).
Applicants will have a strong commitment to medical education, and graduate entry medical education in particular, and will have demonstrated enthusiasm for and dedication to effective teaching, assessment and pastoral support. Applicants will be flexible and organised, and will be committed to understanding and contributing to course design and development, and to clearly demonstrate the relevance of medical science to clinical medicine. An educational qualification, or willingness to undertake one, would be desirable.
The successful applicant will be offered a fellowship at Wolfson College, Cambridge.
Fixed-term: 5 years.
