Applications are invited for an Unestablished post at the level of University Lecturer (Honorary Consultant) in in Clinical Trials (http://www.cuh.org.uk/clinical-trials/cambridge-clinical-trials-unit-cctu) This is a fixed-term post for 5 years based at the Cambridge Clinical Trials Unit, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Addenbrooke's Hospital).
The Cambridge Clinical Trials Unit (CCTU) is located on the Addenbrooke's Biomedical Campus in Cambridge, and works closely with local investigators from the University of Cambridge, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Cambridge and Peterborough Foundation Trust to develop and deliver high quality clinical trials. The Unit has a diverse portfolio of over 40 clinical trials, encompassing a broad-range of disease areas including oncology, cardiovascular medicine, paediatrics, renal medicine and surgery, and is accredited by the NIHR. This new post is designed to strengthen the CCTU portfolio of academic-led trials, and number of successful NIHR awards.
The post-holder will be expected to develop and lead their own portfolio of clinical trials, and also to work with other investigators to help them design and execute trials. An area of particular current interest is renal medicine. Applicants must be medically qualified, registered with the GMC, and should be, or be eligible to be, on the GMC specialist register. A degree and first-hand experience of designing and running clinical trials is essential. Applicants should have a strong academic track record as evidenced by publications and/or competitive grant awards, particularly from the NIHR.
The post offers significant protected time to develop a personal research programme and applicants are expected to seek independent research funding for their work from the NIHR. The successful applicants will also have a role in supporting teaching and training within the Trials Unit and Medical School. The successful candidate will be considered for an Honorary Consultant contract with Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and time will be allocated for some specialist clinical work.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 5 years in the first instance.
This appointment requires an Honorary Clinical Contract.
