Applications are invited for the new position of Senior Maintenance Technician to be part of the maintenance team working under the direction of the Deputy Facilities Manager, responsible for the day to day maintenance of this large and busy Department. Duties will include a wide range of planned, preventative and reactive maintenance tasks in addition to minor installations and modifications of building services and equipment.
The successful candidate will work in all areas of the Department including plant rooms, laboratories, controlled environments and support areas with a high degree of autonomy. You will be expected to organise yourself and other available resources in a way that minimises disruption to research activities.
The role holder will supervise two Maintenance Technicians responsible for the allocation of work and ensuring the maintenance team works efficiently to successfully plan and implement a wide variety of infrastructure and maintenance work. You will have a flexible approach to work and be expected to provide support outside of normal working hours in an emergency.
This is a varied role which requires substantial mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge and skills along with excellent communication, problem-solving and team working skills. Previous experience in a similar role is essential and a relevant qualification would be advantageous.
