Applications are invited for a PA position from the end of May/beginning of June working with Professor James Wood, Head of Department of Veterinary Medicine and Alborada Professor of Equine and Farm Animal Science. Professor Wood heads up a research group, the Disease Dynamics Unit, an interdisciplinary group, using state-of-the-art methods from epidemiology, mathematics and biological sciences, to study the growth, spread and control of pathogens within and between hosts.
The role holder will provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to Professor Wood covering his Departmental and research activities, ensuring the effective management of his diary, making travel arrangements and management of the Professor's research grants, as well as providing general administration to the research group. The successful candidate must have relevant and extensive secretarial and administrative experience in a busy work environment. They will have excellent communication skills (written and oral) and be highly motivated. They will also have excellent organisational skills with the ability to organise their own workload, working calmly and efficiently under pressure.
It would be desirable to have a knowledge of (or ability to learn quickly) the University Financial System and prior work experience in the higher education sector.
